11. Eugene Fields

11. Eugene Fields

A month has passed since Lucinda entered the academy, and she was gradually getting used to school life. Today, all the students were gathered in the auditorium for a student assembly.

On the stage, the members of the school council were lined up. The student council was composed of four members: the president, the vice president, the secretary, and the treasurer.

Lucinda waved secretly at one of them. The other person noticed, and the corners of his mouth drew up slightly. It was her stepbrother, Chris, who had been a member of the student council since his freshman year and was elected as vice president this year.

‘Becoming the vice president of the student council as a second-year student, I guess my brother is pretty amazing.’

She was proud of her stepbrother’s achievements, but then she realized that the student council president was also a second-year student. Boys wore different-colored ties for each grade, and the student council president wore a blue tie, just like Chris.

He must be a really smart student: despite only being a second-year student, he became the president of the student council.

Since they were both highly intelligent students, Lucinda imagined that Chris and the student council president must have an excellent relationship. Or, on the contrary, they might see each other as rivals and constantly butt heads…

As she was pondering this, the student council president came to the front of the stage and began to address the audience.

“Welcome, everyone. I am Eugene Fields, your student council president. From now on, the entire student council will work as one to ensure the success of the long-established Royal Academy of Magic. I ask for your support. Then, to begin with, I would like to report on the student council’s budget and accounts for the previous year and the proposed budget for the current year.”

He spoke with a dignified manner befitting a student council president.

His appearance was just as stunning as Chris’s, and his jet-black hair, which was rare in this country, was impressive. His vermilion eyes, glowing like red jade, had an irresistible charm that could captivate anybody just by looking at them.

“……Finally, if there are any new students who are interested in the work of the student council, please come visit us anytime.”

Finally, the student council meeting, which had been going on for about an hour, came to an end with the student council president’s closing remarks.

Lucinda, completely uninterested in the work of the student council, was absent-minded and half asleep when Mia, who was sitting next to her, spoke to her in a low voice. Suddenly, she came back to her senses.

“Eugene Fields is the game’s final boss.”

The president is the final boss. This means that he, Eugene Fields, will later be taken over by the resurrected Demon King and become the enemy of the heroine. In other words, Lucinda, who was looking forward to the battle against the Demon King, should avoid getting involved with him so as not to influence the Demon King’s resurrection, and should definitely not become friends with him.

‘But then again, there’s no chance to get along with the student council president in the first place.’

Speaking frankly, since they were in different grades, it was unlikely that they would ever be involved with each other unless she joined the student council.

◇◇◇

When she returned to the classroom, Lyle and Aaron approached her.

“Are you interested in joining the student council by any chance?”

“No, not at all, why?”

Lucinda tilted her head in puzzlement at the unexpected misunderstanding.

“I see. If you’re interested, I thought we could go on a tour together.”

“No, I’m not interested in joining the student council…….Did I look that interested to you?”

“You were looking at the student council president with a very serious expression after his speech. So I thought you might be interested in joining the student council.”

It seems that they noticed her staring at the student council president after she found out that he was the final boss.

“Ah, it’s just that, well, I kinda felt like I’d met the president somewhere before…….By the way, do Your Highness Aaron and Lord Lyle know the student council president?”

When Lucinda tried to cover up her story, Lyle answered while looking at Aaron.

“I’ve barely spoken to him, but I think Aaron knows him better.”

“Why is that?”

Lucinda asked, wondering why Aaron was the one who knew the president better.

“Eugene is the son of the duke, who is the younger brother of the king, so we’re cousins.”

“I see, I didn’t know that. His Highness Aaron must be very proud to have such an outstanding person as his cousin!”

She carelessly spoke those remarks without any bad intentions, thinking that Aaron would be just as proud of Eugene as she is proud of Chris, but Aaron’s expression darkened.

“Yes, he’s a very talented person. Far more than I am,” Aaron said with a smile.

The curve of his lips indicated that he was smiling, but there was another emotion buried deep inside his eyes. Even though she didn’t know what it was, there was something suspicious about it.

‘It’s unusual for His Highness Aaron to look like this. Somehow, it like he’s lonely and surrounded by a prickly aura.’

Each person has their own fragile, sensitive, and vulnerable places in their hearts that they do not want other people to see. It’s not something that can be forcibly uncovered out of curiosity.

The bell rang, signaling the start of the next class, and everyone returned to their seats.

‘Someday, when His Highness Aaron confides in me, I’ll support him in any way I can. I want to repay him for introducing me to Mrs. Flora.’

Lucinda watched Aaron’s back with concern, as there seemed to be a shadow hanging over his head.
