5. The Magic Instructor

5. The Magic Instructor

Returning home to the mansion after the tea party, Lucinda immediately told Chris what had happened at the royal palace.

Since the Crown Prince was going to introduce her to a good instructor, Lucinda really wanted to learn magic from the instructor at all costs. However, in order to do so, she needed to get permission from her parents.

Furthermore, if she didn’t tell them properly, they might not accept it, so she had to think carefully about how to bring up the issue.

Lucinda talked about her problem with Chris, who immediately offered to take on the role of her mediator.

“It’s best to bring up this topic when they’re in a good mood.”

He said that, and later that day, they went and got permission from their parents successfully.

Thank you so much for talking to our mother and father! It’s amazing how easily they gave their permission…!

In this kind of situation, it was always best to present the benefits first. Chris emphasized the fact that this was an opportunity to establish a connection with His Highness Aaron’s personal network, and they agreed. Besides, it was a direct introduction from His Highness, so they couldn’t just ignore it.

Chris said all this as if it was nothing, but if it had been Lucinda who went to ask for permission, it surely wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did.

Is big brother really only eleven years old? I feel like I’m already losing to him despite my advanced mental age…….

Chris asked Lucinda in a worried tone, fearing that she might feel sad,

“I’ve already taken magic lessons with another teacher, so you’ll have to take Ms. Trevor’s classes by yourself. Will you be alright?”

“Yes, it will be a bit lonely, but I’ll do my best.”

“Don’t push yourself too hard.”

When Lucinda nodded, the corners of Chris’s eyes gently creased, and he stroked her head affectionately as usual.

First day of magic class

On the first day of magic lessons, Lucinda went to the residence of the magic instructor introduced to her by the Crown Prince, the Viscountess Flora Trevor.

“My name is Lucinda Lancaster. I look forward to learning from you today.”

“Flora Trevor. I’ve heard about you from His Highness Aaron. I would like to evaluate your magical power before we begin.”

Flora smiled gently and took Lucinda’s hand into her own.

“Now, I’m going to let my magic flow through you and see how you react. You just need to close your eyes and relax.”

As Lucinda closed her eyes, she felt something warm spreading from her palm to the rest of her body.

After waiting a while, the comfortable warmth suddenly began to fade, and she felt Flora’s hand pull away.

“……It’s okay now. Your magic is very strong. I think you have an affinity for all attributes, but especially for the lightning attribute. If you work hard, you’ll become a good magician.”

“Really?⁉︎ I’m so happy!”

Lucinda’s face broke into a smile at the unexpectedly high evaluation.

In this world, magical power resides in the blood, and its concentration is used to determine one’s aptitude for magic in general. In other words, the higher the concentration of magic in the blood, the more powerful the spell that can be cast with the minimum amount of magic.

Affinity for certain attributes was also important. Most people with strong magic can use spells of all the attributes: wind, fire, water, earth, ice, and lightning. However, if a person doesn’t have an affinity for a certain attribute, then their power will be reduced when casting spells of that attribute.

Having an affinity for all attributes meant that you could use a wider range of magic. This was something that Lucinda, who wanted to become a magician, wouldn’t have dared to hope for.

‘I will be able to use the advanced magic of all attributes……!’

While Lucinda was excitedly imagining the bright future ahead of her, Flora continued, “But …….”

“There’s a bit of a wall surrounding your heart. I think you’re holding back a little too much. It’s important to free your mind in order to be able to control your magic.”

“Free my mind……?”

“Yes, that’s right. Don’t keep your feelings bottled up inside your heart. You must be more open and accept things as they are.”

“It sounds a bit complicated…”

“You don’t have to do it all the time, but your state of mind when you use magic is important. You also don’t have to start doing it right away, but I thought it would be best for you to keep it in mind as you begin to practice.”

“Yes, I understand.”

After that, Flora showed Lucinda a few simple magic exercises and taught her how to control her magical power.

“That’s all for today, I’ll see you next week. It’s still dangerous for you to use magic, so don’t attempt to practice on your own.”

“Yes, Mrs. Flora. I’ll see you next week!”

After that, magic lessons were held once a week. Although Lucinda wanted to practice more often, her mind and body were still young and immature in this world, so it was appropriate to maintain the current schedule. Also, it seemed that if she used her magic too often, it might actually hinder her growth, so she had no choice but to be patient.

As a result of this, Lucinda visited Flora’s place every week and worked diligently to complete the lessons until, after one month, she was finally able to get a good score for her control of magical power.

“Now, let’s start practicing how to use spells.”

“Yes!”

Lucinda had been looking forward to practicing spells for a long time, and her eyes lit up with eagerness.

Flora’s eyes narrowed when she saw her pupil’s excited appearance.

“Let’s start with the easiest and least dangerous spell of all, a beginner’s spell using wind magic. It’s called “windblower”, and, as the name suggests, it’s a spell that creates wind. First of all, let’s make a gentle breeze like this.”

Flora then held up her index finger and moved it as if tracing a pattern in the air. Shortly afterwards, although there had been no wind before, a fresh breeze suddenly blew across the back of Lucinda’s neck, causing her hair to flutter softly.

“It’s enough to create a small breeze like this at first. As you become better at casting the spell, you’ll be able to use it for offensive magic, such as “Slicing Wind” or “Whirlwind”.

Just like in the game world….! I can’t wait to be able to use offensive magic!

Lucinda got excited when she pictured the magician character from a game she played in her previous life.

“Do you have any tips on how to use magic smoothly?”

“The most important thing to remember is that imagination is the key to magic. You have to

visualize the spell you are going to use and then send your magical power into it.”

I see…….I’m confident in my imagination!

In her previous life, Lucinda was so addicted to video games that she often found herself fantasizing about things in the real world.

For example, she imagined that if she was a magician, she would make a big water bubble float in the air and swim around it. Admittedly, her imagination was a bit childish.

I never thought my past life’s fantasies would come in handy here!

She decided to visualize an idea, as she used to do every day back then.

Yes, since we’re outside, let’s try moving those flowers……

Lucinda waved her index finger with a soft motion.

Then the air began to stir, and a small breeze made the pretty wildflowers nearby flutter, sending their white, fuzzy seed pods dancing in the air. The fuzzes flew in front of Flora, glistening in the sunlight as they rode the breeze.

“I can’t believe this is the first time you’ve done this! It’s so beautiful.”

Flora exclaimed in astonishment.

“I’m sure you’ll make a good magician.”

Flora’s affectionate gaze and kind words gave her the confidence and assurance she needed, and Lucinda resolved to work even harder.
